Students are asking for summer job information.
Working as a Middle School Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant with the Winslow Township Schools, daily, students stop by my office asking about how to apply for working paper and where they can look for a summer job. This information can help because now is a wonderful time to research available summer job opportunities.
Youth 13 years and above) can apply for working papers online. This is the process:
Working Papers Process, Step-by-Step
Once a minor gets a job offer, they should apply for Working Papers. The new online application process is designed to be streamlined and efficient for everyone. Here is an overview of how it works. For minor children:
Applying for working papers: You only apply for Working Papers after you get an employment offer. Then, follow these steps
- CREATE AN ACCOUNT. Enter your name and email address at myworkingpapers.nj.gov. You will be sent a link to confirm your email address. You only need to create an account once, even if you need to submit more than one Working Papers application.
- COMPLETE THE APPLICATION. Ask your employer for their unique 8-digit code and your caregiver’s name and email address to submit your part of the application. If you do not have the employer’s code, you can search for the business by keyword. If your employer does not have an employer’s code, indicate it on the application and they will be sent a link to create an employer’s account.
- TRACK YOUR PROGRESS. Follow up with your caregiver and employer, to make sure they submit their parts of the application before you can start working. If your application is rejected for any reason, you cannot work until you submit a new application that is approved.
- Start Working. Once your application is approved, you can start working at your new job.Ifyou add or change jobs, use your existing account to submit a new Working Papers application for every new employer. Use the “Apply for Working Papers” link after you log in.
